Monday, Zoom unveiledThe video conferencing vendor claims that its new app for Apple Vision Pro will allow users to experience Zoom in a “real-world immersive environment.”
Zoom in visionOS will allow users to experience new conferencing features, such as Personas and Spatial Zoom. These features promise to change the way call participants interact.
Apple Vision Pro users can be represented in a phone call by an “authentic spatial representation” of themselves. This allows other participants to see their hand and facial movements even if a camera is not pointed at them.
Apple Vision Pro users have the option to scale their calls to the appropriate size. They can enlarge their call to experience it as though they were in the room with their colleagues, or reduce it to fit their workspace.
“The integration of Zoom with Apple Vision Pro and visionOS enables participants to have the ultimate meeting from anywhere. It also delivers on our commitment for seamless collaboration and communications,” said Smita Hashi, Zoom’s Chief Product Officer.
The company plans to add new Zoom features to Apple Vision Pro in spring. These include 3D object sharing which will allow headset users to experience 3D files on the headset, an integration with Zoom Team Chat, and real-world pinnable, which allows users to pin five participants anywhere on their physical space.
This Zoom announcement is important because it further positions Vision Pro as a tool that professionals can use in order to transform and optimize workflow. Zoom calls are one of the most annoying parts of workdays, and almost everyone could benefit by a more immersive experience.
The Zoom app will be available in the App Store on February 2 when the headset is launched. ZDNET secured a headset. Stay posted for hands-on reviews and in-depth experiences.
