Sonika:

Tell us about your blog

Simmi:

Ritiriwaz.com is a website and a one-stop guide to Indian Culture and Traditions. We provide information on various aspects of the great Indian culture and its diversity. The culture of India is the amalgamation of several cultures spread across the Indian Subcontinent. Many elements of India’s diverse culture are Indian religion, festivals, philosophy, language, cuisines, clothing, dance, and music.

We always try to promote the diversity of India through our unique content. Our viewers like our unique content and this enables us to create the right kind of user experience and articles. We cover almost all aspects of India. Mainly its culture, tradition, rituals, customs, heritage, festivals, fairs, languages, history, freedom fighters, monuments, lifestyle, beauty, fashion, food, travel, immigration, etc. We also write articles about the current affairs, social aspects, political growth and economical situation of India.

Sonika:

What made you start your own blog? Tell us your story behind it.

Simmi:

We are settled in the USA and being Indian, always miss our home country, India. So it was our passion to share information about India with our neighbors and friends. I was having a passion for writing and used my passion to spread information about the history and culture of India through this blog.

Earlier I had website IndyaPulse.com in the year 2007 but due to personal priorities, I had to close it. Now I’ve started RitiRiwaz.com under a different domain name, but with the same goal and purpose. I hope to share India’s diversity and culture with the rest of the world and enlighten them with unique characteristics that make India a one-of-a-kind nation.

Sonika:

What makes you happiest as a blogger?

Simmi:

Seeing readers enjoying and appreciating the information on my blogs makes me happiest as a blogger. It encourages me to keep writing and shows me hope that there are people out there who acknowledge and appreciate my talent and the knowledge I hold.

Sonika:

What are the future plans for your blog?

Simmi:

We would like to create fresh content on undiscovered areas of India. We are also creating content and videos on the mythological and religious aspects of India. We are trying to embrace social media and networking. Ritiriwaz has its own Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages, through which we interact with users. As well as that, We have started a YouTube channel for RitiRiwaz under the name RitiRiwaz.India. Here’s a link to it.

After getting small success in blogging, we would like to keep focussing on promoting our rich culture and heritage and provide all the information that people are looking for India.

Sonika:

What was your biggest challenge as a blogger?

Simmi:

Blogging is not an easy world, you have to get yourself out of your comfort zone and do non-stop work. There are no days off or exceptions. Blogging needs your time, your passion, and your thoughts in order to inspire the world.

Sonika:

How do you drive traffic to your blog?

Simmi:

Our main traffic source is search engines. However, our rich content will definitely help us get an edge over others. The way we communicate with users is also different. We’ve fully embraced online social networking. Ritiriwaz has its own Facebook and Twitter pages, through which we interact with users.

Our branding sets us apart, too, probably the best indication of this is our website. As a brand, we’re focused on our users, the community and the environment. We’ve created a community of followers and advocates through great content and great customer service first and foremost.

Sonika:

If you started all over again, what mistake would you avoid?

Simmi:

Like every other blogger, I’ve also made plenty of mistakes and am still learning. But to err is human, so I wouldn’t change much. For all my mistakes have made me the blogger I am today. Still, there is some technical knowledge needed to help you get into SEO work which I’d wish I had known before.

Sonika:

What advice do you have for new bloggers?

Simmi:

Diving into blogging is no small feat, it needs your consistent effort even after years of work without expecting much in return. I’d like to encourage new bloggers to put in all their effort and do their best work. As the saying goes, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet”.

Sonika:

Who is your favorite blogger and why?:

Simmi:

My favorite blogger is SpeakingTree.com, I admire their writing style and knowledge about India.

Sonika:
