Interview with Kartik from The Opinionated Indian

Posted

We had an opportunity to get in touch with a blogger, Kartik M who runs his blog The Opinionated Indian.

The interview:

Sonika:

Tell us about your blog

Kartik:

My blog covers topics related to Bollywood celebrity gossip, Bollywood updates, Hollywood celeb gossip & South Indian celebs gossip

Sonika:

What made you start your own blog? Tell us your story behind it.

Kartik:

I started the blog to write about political issues instead of posting my thoughts on my Facebook wall, which would irk my friends who were opposed to the ideology I was supporting. But we saw that not many people were excited to read about politics, plus we did not have unique content. That’s when I decided to diversify to Bollywood & travel. My articles on celeb gossip started getting shared & The Opinionated Indian became a known name in Bollywood gossip circles.

Sonika:

What makes you happiest as a blogger?

Kartik:

When people quote me on social media forums when I see my audience’s engagement with my content by commenting, sharing, etc. Of course, the money I make from my blog is a big source of happiness.

Sonika:

What are the future plans for your blog?

Kartik:

I am now concentrating at building content related to Hollywood celeb gossip & South Indian celebs gossip.

Sonika:

What was your biggest challenge as a blogger?

Kartik:

To grow my audience beyond a certain threshold.

Sonika:

How do you drive traffic to your blog?

Kartik:

Google, social media & referral traffic.

Sonika:

If you started all over again, what mistake would you avoid?

Kartik:

Change the name to something related to celeb gossip.

Sonika:

What advice do you have for new bloggers?

Kartik:

You need to have something unique & interesting to say otherwise it won’t work. Post at least 4 articles a week to cultivate a decent audience.

Sonika:

Who is your favorite blogger and why?:

Kartik:

Pinkvilla – it is now a full-fledged website, but started off as a blog. I hope to get the kind of traffic they get.

Sonika:

How can the readers contact you?

Kartik:

Readers can send an email at theopinionatedindian@yahoo.com

Sonika:

Alright Kartik, it was a pleasure talking to you. Thank you for spending the time with us. We wish you all the best for your blog and your future.
